Understand the Impact of Co-Signing

Understand the Impact of Co-SigningIn plain English: When you co-sign, you are legally responsible for repayment of the debt.

As a co-signer on a loan or credit card application, you’re lending your good name and your solid credit history. You’re making a promise to repay in full if the original borrower can’t, doesn’t, or just plain won’t.

Moving Back: Set Rules with Adult Children

You’re finally over Empty Nest Syndrome. Maybe you’ve taken up a new hobby; you and your spouse are enjoying getting to know each other again. Then ... your adult child wants to move back home.

According to The Wall Street Journal, 36% of young adults ages 18 to 31 were living with their parents in 2012, up from 34% in 2009. Unemployment, the high cost of buying a house or paying rent, and postponing life events such as getting married are factors. If adult children had married, maybe a divorce is why they’re moving home.

Whatever the reason, if your little chickadee is coming back to the nest, consider these ideas to keep the peace, based on the Pew Study, “A Rising Share of Young Adults Live in Their Parents’ Home”.

Kirby Kangaroo Christmas Party (ages 10 and under)

We held our Kirby Kangaroo Christmas Party on Saturday, December 6th at Trexler Middle School. We had 200 children registered to attend and everyone enjoyed the festivities! Children received an activity bag, snacks and a present. They also had opportunity to get their photo taken with Santa and Mrs. Claus and tell them what they wanted for Christmas. Thanks to all the credit union volunteers who took time out of their busy schedules to help. A very special thank you to Santa & Mrs. Claus for visiting us and leaving the elves in charge!

10 Reasons Credit Unions and Millennials are a Perfect Match!

I can’t remember the first time I became a customer of a bank.

Banks have come and gone numerous times in my life, each one about as memorable as switching wallets, but I remember joining my credit union. I’ve found most people do. Often because joining a credit union was a game changer – the exact point their financial lives took a big turn for the better.

This is particularly true of millennials. Millennials – generally defined as anyone born between 1980 and 2000 – are more likely to recommend credit unions than banks to their friends.

Giving BackUnderstand the Impact of Co-Signing

During the month of December, members helped us give back to our school community by donating $1 to purchase a t-shirt cutout to decorate our tree. All proceeds went to the ASD Uniform Fund to benefit students living below the poverty level. We also collected hats, mittens and scarves for the homeless children and youth of the Lehigh Valley.
