Managing Stress in the Sandwich Generation

By Center for Personal Finance editors

Almost half (47%) of adults in their 40s and 50s belong to the sandwich generation – the population of middle-aged adults who are taking care of their children and at the same time providing some level of care or support to their elderly parents.

If you find yourself in this position, you’re probably finding that you’re constantly trying to do too much at once, with not enough money or the worry about the financial strain you know will come.

Kirby Kangaroo Christmas Party (ages 10 and under)

We held our Kirby Kangaroo Christmas Party on Saturday, December 5th at Trexler Middle School. We had 200 children registered to attend and everyone enjoyed the festivities! Children received an activity bag, snacks and a present. They also had an opportunity to get their photo taken with Santa and Mrs. Claus and tell them what they wanted for Christmas. Thanks to all the credit union volunteers who took time out of their busy schedules to help. A very special thank you to Santa & Mrs. Claus for visiting us and leaving the elves in charge!

FAFSA: Before, During and After

It won’t be long now before the parents of high school students in the class of 2016 start the process of financing their children’s higher education. Completing the FAFSA can be a daunting task for families, but it doesn’t have to be.

Student Choice offers ongoing opportunities to educate college-bound students and their families about responsible ways to pay for college.

Student Choice will offer a FREE national webinar on January 20, 2016. Their College Access Counselor, Patricia Poplicean, will take students and parents through each step of completing the FAFSA – their gateway to FREE financial aid. The webinar will be offered at 1:00 and 6:00 p.m. EST and is one of a quarterly series of national webinars hosted by Poplicean.

The presentation will highlight:

  • The latest Federal updates
  • What is the FAFSA?
  • How to prepare for the FAFSA
  • Tips on completing the FAFSA
  • What happens next?
